3 Benefits of Camping in the Spring

Looking for the perfect activity for you and your family this spring? Consider a camping trip! While summer is the prime time for camping, we’d make a strong case for spring being just as good, if not better. Continue reading to learn more from the team at S&H Campground.

1. Less Crowded

In recent years, camping has become increasingly popular. We are overjoyed to see how many new people have taken up this amazing interest because we want as many people as possible to experience the healing and beauty of nature. Yet, with so many more campers, there are more people around taking up camping sites. And, since summer is the designated camping season, those crowds will probably swarm to the campgrounds then. Summertime is when kids are out of school and the weather is more predictable. Hence, camping is at its peak right now in the spring.

2. Milder Weather

As was already noted, summer weather is more predictable, but it is also consistently hot. Also, some summer days in Indiana can just be too hot for you to appreciate going camping. If you’re tent camping in the summer, you can find yourself battling humidity, which is not a great experience if you wake up sticky every ten minutes. Even if you could experience some rain while camping in the spring, you can be ready for it by packing the appropriate equipment. If a storm strikes, just grab a spare coat, some waterproof boots, and a sturdy tent fly or tarp, and you should be good to go.

3. Fewer Bugs

Despite how much we like the summer, the mosquitoes make it difficult to go camping during the season. You might feel as though there are insects buzzing in your ears wherever you go during the summer, which can get really annoying. By going in the spring when pests won’t bother you as much, you can avoid this. You won’t be completely free of them, but you’ll probably be okay if you leave your insect spray at home, which isn’t the case in the summer.
