For many camping hobbyists, communing with nature is a major draw to the outdoor adventure. S&H Campground provides a safe space where you can connect to the beautiful wilderness of Indiana. Call us today at (317) 326-3206 to find out more about our myriad of activities.
From the White-Throated Sparrow to the Red-Winged Blackbird, Indiana is the proud home of over 422 wild bird species and is recognized by the Bird Records Committee for housing 125 rare bird species. Nature can be fickle, but if you pay attention, you may catch an uncommon sight. When visiting our campgrounds, be sure to keep an eye out for the following birds:
This tiny, raspberry-colored creature is a huge fan of Indiana winters. Though strikingly luminous, they are considered pests and are often caught feeding on fruit tree blossoms.
As an American symbol of happiness and freedom, the Eastern Bluebird is a year-round Indiana resident and beautiful sight. Often, these birds are found perched in trees as their brilliant blue color blends with the azure of the sky. More recently these birds have been on a decline, as it becomes more difficult to collect food in the winter. Mealworm bird feeders are very useful in catching that blue bird snapshot for your next post, but remember to move quickly!
Count yourself lucky if you’re among the quick few who are alert enough to spot the ruby-throated hummingbird! These agile creatures have the ability to fly backward, sideways, and even upside-down. You can lure a hummingbird with a sugar water feeder, but have your camera ready, as they can fly up to 60 miles per hour.
From golfing to bird-watching, S&H Campground of Indiana has something for everyone in the family. For any questions about our amenities and activities, call us at (317) 326-3208, or contact us online.
